Since 2008, Subaru has run its Share the Love campaign to help support charities. This year, however, will be a little different. Subaru is letting its Facebook fans help choose which charities to support.
Subaru has already chosen three charities and will let the public choose the next two. Each day, Facebook users can vote from among six charities. The voting started on August 6th and will end on August 26th.
The two charities with the most votes will join the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, and Meals on Wheels to complete the list of “Share the Love” charities. Then, for every new vehicle Subaru sells or leases between November 2, 2012 and January 2, 2013, they will donate $250 to the charity of the car purchaser’s choosing.
The six charities on the voting list include the Alzheimer’s Association, American Forests, First Book, Leave No Trace, Special Olympics, and USO. The winning charities will be announced on August 27th.

Subaru of America’s fourth-annual “Share the Love” event is now underway at dealerships in the United States, as well as online.
For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 19, 2011 through January 3, 2012, Subaru will donate $250 to one of five different charities. Subaru will donate up to $5 million in total support.
Through the “Share the Love” event, Subaru will donate to the following organizations:
- American Forests
- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
- Make-A-Wish Foundation
- Meals on Wheels Association of America
- Special Olympics
The Facebook community can also get involved with the “Share the Love” event. Facebook users can visit the “Share the Love Charities” tab on the Subaru of America Facebook page where they can submit their vote for one of the participating charities to receive a $1 donation from Subaru.
Facebook users can share their experience with their friends and view what percentage of their votes their charity received. Subaru will donate up to $250,000 additionally through the Facebook “Share the Love” campaign.
The first “Share the Love” event began in late November 2008 and raised $4.6 million. Since then, Subaru has donated nearly $15 million to various charities through the “Share the Love” campaign.
