Rob Drydeck, star of MTV’s Rob Drydeck’s Fantasy Factory, has set a GUINESS WORLD RECORD® for the Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car by plowing ahead—er…backwards—and flying 89 feet and 3¼ inches between ramps entirely in reverse. And, as he was when he performed the world’s first automotive kickflip back in 2011, he did so behind the wheel of a Chevy Sonic.
“The Sonic is a great car for firsts,” Dyrdek told Chevrolet in a statement. “I have always been a Chevy guy, so when we decided we wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the finale of “Fantasy Factory,” using the Sonic again just made sense.”
The feat was performed at Six Flags Magic Mountains as camera crews from MTV filmed the proceedings for the upcoming season finale of the aforementioned Fantasy Factory show. The episode will air March 13 at 10:30pm EST on MTV.
Of course, while Rob chose the Sonic because of his affinity for safety and the numerous standard safety features, we here at Clements Auto would like to think that it also had something to do with the Sonic’s unquantifiable cool.
Want to see just what makes the 2014 Chevy Sonic so neat? Stop out and test drive one of our in-stock models today (note: please refrain from kickflipping or driving at high speeds in reverse).
