Have you ever felt a little uneasy handing your keys over to a valet, a mechanic, or anyone else whom you aren’t familiar with? Especially with the technology in vehicles these days like the Chevrolet MyLink interactive touch screen system, a lot of private information is being stored in your car, much like a phone. Well now the 2014 Chevy Impala is offering a PIN-activated faceplate for added security to the Chevrolet MyLink.
With this new PIN-activated faceplate you are now able to securely store any information on your MyLink with the option of locking it up when you know someone else will be inside your vehicle. In addition to that, the touch screen system itself can be moved to create a secret storage area behind the screen where you can store all of your valuable items like your phone, wallet, iPod, or watch.
“We were able to move the MyLink system’s electronics to another location in the vehicle, effectively creating the space behind the touch screen,” said Matt Highstrom, General Motors human-machine interface designer.
This new technology essentially acts as a safe, like one you would find in a hotel room. The hidden compartments and security locks give the Impala a very James Bond kind of feel.
“Valet mode is the kind of feature that Impala customers will appreciate,” said Chevrolet vice president of Global Marketing, Chris Perry. “It is one of many great new features on our newest MyLink and a small part of Impala’s overall technology package.”
Production of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala will begin this spring.
Clements Chevrolet looks forward to the 007-style features included with the Impala when it arrives in our showroom.
