Chevrolet Camaro Races to Fight Breast Cancer

Pink racecars are not a common sight, but if you are at Atlanta Motor Speedway on August 31st or September 2nd, you will see one. On August 31st, breast cancer survivors and their guests will get to ride around the track in the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car.

Team Chevy NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jamie McMurray and four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday, Jr. will be their drivers. NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Danica Patrick will also be there to meet survivors.

On September 2nd during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500, Chevy will donate $200 to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative for every caution lap run. These laps will be led by the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS that will feature the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer logo.

If you can’t be at the track, watch the race on Sunday and keep your eyes out for the pink Camaro SS.

Chevrolet SS Confirmed

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Chevrolet will offer a rear-wheel drive, V8 performance sedan in the form of the Chevrolet SS. The SS will also become the official racecar for Chevrolet in NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing Series.

Chevrolet is reprising the performance SS for the first time since 1996. The newest SS is scheduled to debut as a 2014 model and will arrive at dealerships in late 2013. Not many more details have been released about the latest SS, but this news is sure to excite hardcore Chevrolet fans.
