Chevrolet Is Red Hot Across the Globe with New Sales Record

It’s official that Chevrolet is the fastest growing auto maker in the entire world! The numbers are there to back it up. In 2012, over 4.95 million Chevys were sold worldwide which set a global sales record. This helped General Motors to reach 9.2 million vehicles sold which is up 2.9% from the previous year.

The biggest chunk of that 4.95 million still came from Chevy’s homeland, the United States, which bought 1.85 million vehicles. However, 60% of the brand’s sales came for markets outside the US. Rounding out the top ten were Brazil (643,000), China (627,000), Russia (205,000), Mexico (179,000), Canada (139,000), Argentina (134,000), South Korea (134,000), Uzbekistan (123,000), and India (92,000).

With Chevy’s “Find New Roads” campaign, it’s clear they’re planning to expand globally and embrace this new popularity worldwide. “Chevrolet is in the midst of the most aggressive rollout of new products in its history, which helped us deliver our ninth-consecutive quarter of record global sales,” said Don Johnson, Chevrolet vice president of U.S. sales and service.

One of the main reasons for Chevrolet’s recent global success is because of the new smaller cars that they have been putting out, such as the Cruze, Sonic/Aveo, Spark, and midsize Malibu. They have also introduced crossovers and trucks like the Trax, Spin, Colorado, and Orlando that are designed to meet the needs of customers all across the globe.

Chevy Spark Smartphone Navigation App

We probably all rely heavily on our GPS or in-car navigation system to get us where we need to go and if you don’t have either of those, you may use the navigation program in your smartphone. However, that can plow through your data allowance if you’re not careful.

Chevrolet has come up with a great way to incorporate navigation in the 2013 Chevy Spark without it adding thousands to the sticker price. In fact, the Spark is the lowest-priced new car to offer a fully-functioning in-dash touch-screen navigation system. How does Chevrolet manage this?

Standard on the Chevy Spark LT is the MyLink system, which has a seven-inch touch screen. The navigation system isn’t part of the car, it’s part of your smartphone. Drivers will need to download the BringGo app from any app store (it costs $50 per phone—less than an in-car navigation system) and then connect the phone to the car. It will then project the navigation information on the touch screen.

Luckily the app will only need to use your smartphone data when looking up point-of-interest information and will give you a warning before doing it. All the map information is stored within the app itself.

So, if you’re in the market for a very affordable car, but still want some high-tech amenities, head to your local Chevy dealer to check out the 2013 Chevy Spark.

Chevy Spark is Fit for Bubble Boy in New Ad

GM has released a new commercial for the Chevy Spark this week, featuring a young boy who lives in a bubble. The “Bubble Boy” walks past a parked Chevy Spark in the street and notices a bumper sticker highlighting the 10 airbags in the Chevy Spark.

In a twist of fate, a rabbit with horns pops the bubble and the boy gets in the Chevy Spark and is content to do so. The commercial also alludes to the Chevy Spark being loved around the world, showing the Spark all over the world, along with the “Chevy Runs Deep” tagline translated into a dozen different languages.

The 2013 Chevy Spark is GM’s mini-car that comes with a 1.2-liter Ecotec engine and will earn up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway. Air conditioning, power windows and 15-inch wheels are standard on all Spark Trims.

Higher-level trims of the Chevy Spark include features like the Chevrolet MyLink Touch infotainment system, leather interior, and heated seats. To learn more about the Chevy Spark, contact your local Chevrolet dealership.

BringGo Navigation App in the Chevy Spark

The new 2013 Chevy Spark doesn’t have a CD player, but it does have MyLink Radio, which enables drivers to sync their smartphones to the car and use everything on the phone, in the car (including music). One of the apps that Chevy has developed for use with MyLink Radio is the BringGo navigation app.

BringGo will allow drivers to connect their smartphone to MyLink and then they will be able to use the navigation app. This app is cloud-based software and will display live traffic information as well as normal functions of any high-quality navigation system like, emergency information, points of interest, and local Google search.

“The beauty of BringGo is it gives our Spark customers the safety and functionality of a more expensive navigation system without the need for additional equipment and at a tremendous value,” said Sara LeBlanc, global program manager for GM infotainment. “It also demonstrates how easy it is to expand and update MyLink Radio’s capabilities for Spark.”

One added benefit of the BringGo system is that when your phone is disconnected from the car, you will still have access to the maps and routes on your phone. If you already purchased a 2013 Spark, you can get a free update at the dealership to make the embedded BringGo app functional. You will still have to purchase the app for your phone, but it will only cost about $50 and is available in app stores, like iTunes.

Chevrolet Spark Coming in August

General Motors has announced that it’s first ever minicar, the Chevrolet Spark, will hit showrooms around America in August of this year. The four-seat Spark will come with a 4-cylinder, 1.2-liter Ecotec engine and either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Spark will achieve 83 horsepower with this powertrain.

The Chevrolet Spark has been very successful in foreign markets such as Europe, Asia, Australia, Mexico, and South America. General Motors believes the Spark will compete aggressively with the Mini Cooper and Fiat 500. GM has not released official fuel mileage estimates for the American Spark, but it is believed the figures will land somewhere around 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway.

All models will receive ten airbags, 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, and power windows. LT trims will have Chevrolet’s MyLink touch-screen infotainment system, heated seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
