Welcome Back Camaro Z/28!

The 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 was just unveiled at the New York Auto Show much to the pleasant surprise of car lovers around the world.  The Camaro Z/28 is one of the most iconic names ever as far as America muscle cars. It was first introduced back in 1967 but the Z/28 model hadn’t been seen in quite some time.

“As the ultimate track-capable Camaro, this car restores the mission of the original Z/28, and serves as a testament to the expertise of Chevrolet as the best-selling brand of performance cars,” said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America.

It’s powered by a 7.0 liter V8 engine that packs an out-of-this-world 500 horsepower.  There were some weight-trimming modifications done on the Z/28. It comes with lighter wheels, thinner rear-window glass, and overall 300 lbs less than the supercharged ZL1. An improved chassis also helps provide 1.05 g cornering acceleration. When tested on the track against the 2014 Camaro ZL1, the Z/28 came in 3 seconds faster per lap.

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight, high-revving, dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers for track use; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28,” said Reuss.
